WOW air receives modified Recaro seats

DOA project: CL4400 converted for Icelandic airline

SCHWAEBISCH HALL, Germany / REYKJAVIK, Iceland – Recaro Aircraft Seating is equipping Icelandic airline WOW air’s Airbus fleet with around 100 CL4400 business class seats. The seats for the first three aircraft have already been delivered. Recaro Customer Service equipped the CL4400 with new seat covers. As a Certified Design Organization (DOA), Recaro also approved the modification of seat covers in the cabin. By the end of 2018, a retrofit program for the conversion of the seats of twelve existing aircraft will also be implemented.

The CL4400 business class seat successfully proved itself on short and medium-haul routes and will now also be used on WOW air long-haul flights. The seat stands out with its generously adjustable backrest. The headrest can also be adjusted individually. The business class seat offers passengers more privacy thanks to center consoles instead of conventional armrests. “The CL4400 is the most comfortable and luxurious seat in our fleet to date. As a BigSeat which can be specially booked, it offers our passengers a seat pitch of more than 37 inches (94 cm). A practical footrest ensures pure relaxation,” says Skúli Mogensen, CEO of Icelandic airline WOW air. “The excellent quality of Recaro seats and the smooth collaboration with Recaro’s very efficient Customer Service impressed us.

”Headquartered in Reykjavik, Iceland, WOW air currently flies to 37 destinations in Europe, North America and Asia with 18 Airbus aircraft. Founded in 2011, the airline with the purple design welcomed over 2.8 million passengers on its flights last year and continues to grow.

“We are proud to be able to offer WOW air everything from a single source. As a complete solution provider with DOA certification, we not only deliver comfortable seats. We also offer a cost-effective all-round service for modification projects and retrofit tasks including approvals,” says Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer and Shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating.
