Recaro’s economy class seat wins gold

“It's a great feeling to be honored with one of the most prestigious design awards ever,” says Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer and Shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating, who accepted the award together with Oliver Forgatsch, Head of Ergonomics & Design. Christoph Schürg, Team Leader Industrial Design, André Gärtner, Industrial Designer, and Christian Keck, Manager Global Marketing, all from Schwaebisch Hall, were also present at the event.

The CL3710 is the product highlight for the economy class cabin from Recaro Aircraft Seating. It is the first seat which was modularly developed and customized to meet individual customer requirements. “The seat stands out with its exceptional design, functionality and innovation. No less than 18 patent applications were filed during the product’s development,” highlights Hiller. The CL3710 has evolved into one of the most successful products in Recaro Aircraft Seating’s portfolio.

The German Design Award

The German Design Council awards unique and groundbreaking design trends once a year. The German Design Award’s nomination process only invites products and projects to take part which differentiate themselves from the competition through their design quality. Around 30 percent of the submissions come from abroad. 3,400 candidates competed for the 2016 awards, 57 percent of which in the Excellent Product Design area, and 43 percent in the Excellent Communications Design area.
