CL3710 and SL3710 combine premium comfort, superior quality and extreme lightweight design in economy class, while the CL6170 Next Generation concept seat sets new standards in business class

AIX, Hamburg, Germany, 2 April 2019 – Lightweight design, premium comfort and superior quality, these are the main characteristics that link together the three seat models Recaro presents at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg. The CL3710 and SL3710 set a new standard for comfort in the sky for the economy long and short range respectively, while the CL6710 Next Generation concept seat will do the same for business class. All three seat models combine exceptional comfort with the lightweight design and quality that Recaro stands for.

Sleeping comfort above the clouds

The CL3710 – one of the finalists for a Crystal Cabin Award – takes sleeping comfort in economy class to a new level. As part of a holistic approach named ‘Sleeping Comfort’, Recaro created a range of three main comfort elements designed to enable improved body posture, a better ability to change sleeping positions and a reduction of pressure points. The Abrazo headrest gives additional side support to the head, while the extended seat bottom option supports the upper and parts of the lower legs. This increases the size of the seating surface and reduces pressure points. Last but not least, the flip cushion helps to support the lower lumbar area in a cradle or sleeping position.


The ultimate efficiency performer in economy class

While also offering outstanding comfort, Recaro successfully aimed for an unrivalled combination of reliability, light weight and a low total cost of ownership in designing the SL3710. Weighing in at 8 kilograms, this short-haul economy class seat sets a new benchmark for lightweight. Through innovative changes to the seat cushion, the seat pan and the seat structure itself, Recaro achieved major weight reductions. Its slim backrest design provides more living space per passenger, while allowing the carrier to adopt higher-density seat layouts.


Dubbed the efficiency performer, the SL3710 keeps costs low over the entire lifecycle, hence contributing to a lower TCO: a seat design, optimized for predefined recline reduces maintenance costs by 50%, while a spare parts commonality with the BL3710 keeps maintenance costs at a minimum. It also shares a common design language with the BL3710 which can prove crucial for a consistent look and feel in hybrid layouts.


Elevating luxury into new spheres

Besides these two economy class seats, Recaro also introduced a concept for the CL6710 Next Generation business class seat. With best-in-class comfort features the CL6710 NG is nothing less than the next generation of business class travelling. The seat creates a mini suite sensation through its increased living space and styling with high quality trim & finish materials. The optional sliding doors and individually adjustable settings allows passengers to personalize their seating experience above the clouds and creates a new dimension of privacy. While the optimized seat kinematics and cushion comfort offer an ergonomically superior design, the generous and versatile stowage creates more space for all personal belongings.


While offering generous living space for all passengers, the CL6710 NG will hold plenty of benefits for the operators as well. The seat construction of the CL6710 NG maximizes the space within the available layout which makes it perfectly fit for high-density setups. On top of it being adaptable to airliners’ specific needs, it is one of the lightest in the industry which will help save fuel costs. An elaborated maintenance concept provides quick access and replacement of all relevant components. This makes for highly-effective working processes and reduces maintenance costs for the operators.
