Recaro honors suppliers of the year

Soisa Aircraft Interiors convinced with ‘glowing’ idea

FORT WORTH, USA – For the 10th year, Recaro Aircraft Seating invited its suppliers from all over the world to its Global Supplier Conference. More than 100 individuals from 55 companies attended the event on Tuesday, May 15th, this time at the company’s US site in Fort Worth, Texas. At the event, Recaro honored the suppliers of the year for 2018 and for the first time, an innovation category was launched.

Information sharing, networking, and providing important insights to Recaro Aircraft Seating worldwide are the aim of the yearly Global Supplier Conference. This year, the focus of the event was on innovation. Presentations included Recaro experts as well as guest speakers Luis Lizcano, General Manager, and Xavier Hurtado, Supply Chain Development Program, both from the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA).

"Recaro and its suppliers have the great ability to work in the steadily growing, future-oriented aircraft industry and dedicatedly pursue the strategy of collaboration," said Joachim Ley, Executive Vice President Supply Chain at Recaro Aircraft Seating. "In order to continue our success story, we always need to innovate – within our company as well as our suppliers. For that reason, we decided to invite all our partners to an ‘Idea Challenge 2018’. The result was amazing."

The jury judged over 33 ideas from 14 suppliers. Soisa Aircraft Interiors, a Mexican supplier of dress covers, cushions, and foam components, convinced judges with the "glowing experience" – the integration of innovative lighting in dress covers. This idea could be used in a number of ways: to identify seats next to emergency exits, as a safety indicator to track seat belt and recline during taxi, take-off and landing, for airline branding, and to identify passengers with special needs.

China’s Suzhou Haoxin Precision Mechanical Co., Ltd. was honored as supplier of the year in the category of "Production Material" for their on-time delivery and quality performance as well as their high level of customer orientation.

The German family business Hopf Kunststofftechnik GmbH is this year’s "Newcomer" within the suppliers. The company has supplied Recaro Aircraft Seating since 2016 and has provided innovative concepts, competitive pricing, and a strong business relationship.

For Recaro as an aircraft seat supplier, on time logistics is the key. For their quick response time and solid on-time delivery performance, BDP International was awarded the supplier of the year in the category "Non-Production Material".
