Recaro develops intelligent aircraft seat including wellbeing features

A relaxed take-off with the new business class seat CL6710

SCHWAEBISCH HALL, Germany. The CL6710 is Recaro Aircraft Seating‘s flag ship for the aircraft cabin and will be presented to an international audience of aviation experts at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2017 in Hamburg with numerous innovations. As innovative highlight, the business class model as an intelligent seat will be able to prove all its digital finesse. In addition, massage, lighting and temperature settings promise an outstanding flight experience for discerning passengers: Recaro’s Wellbeing. The Portugese airline TAP with its new Airbus A330neo long-range aircraft is a customer for the CL6710.

“The key challenge in the aviation industry is to increase comfort as well as reliability and efficiency at the same time,“ says Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer and Shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating. “With our new I-Seat, we improve the use of the cabin and maintenance for airlines, and we delight passengers with a plus in travel comfort. This intelligent seat with its versatile possibilities sets new standards not only in elegance, comfort and reliability but also in cost-effectiveness and efficiency.”

Added value with Recaro I-Seat and Wellbeing

The CL6710 is an intelligent seat that transmits the operational status of the seat digitally to the staff. This way, amongst other things, the efficiency of the airlines‘ maintenance intervals can be improved. Furthermore, an app for the seat with Recaro’s wellbeing features offers a real benefit for passengers: settings for the seat, lighting and temperature can be individually controlled and saved from a smart phone or tablet. A massage function in the advanced CL6710 perfects the complete package for a feel-good experience on board.

The CL6710 has already achieved its maturity phase and, with a particularly efficient use of space, adapts perfectly to the new generation of widebody aircraft types. The aircraft seat was developed at headquarters in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, where it is currently manufactured.

As customer for the CL6710, Recaro was able to convince and win the Portugese airline TAP. The new Airbus A330neo long-range aircraft will be taking off with Recaro seats in all classes. “We have opted for the CL6710 in the business class as it offers our passengers outstanding living space and, at the same time, is very efficient,“ says Trey Urbahn, Chief Commercial Officer of TAP Portugal.

Premium quality for long-range flights

The business class seat CL6710 leaves nothing to be desired for a pleasant long-range flight. It guarantees relaxation on the highest level, whether the passenger is sitting and working, resting or enjoying inflight entertainment. The CL6710 convinces with its clean and attractive design, premium workmanship and use of select fabrics and materials as well as outstanding ease of use and numerous stowage options. In addition, the CL6710 offers every passenger direct aisle access. The length and width of the seat as well as the different seating positions invite passengers to stretch out and rest. At the push of a button, the seating area turns into a full-flat bed. Changes in position are performed in an ideal, pre-defined angle, that support the passenger’s body otpimally and securely in the seat at any time.

At this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, aviation experts and the general public can experience the business class seat CL6710 in a three-dimensional virtual reality at Recaro’s booth.
