RECARO AIRCRAFT SEATING R2 SELECTED BY AIRBALTIC TO OUTFIT A220-300 FLEET

Hamburg, Germany, May 29, 2024 – RECARO Aircraft Seating has been chosen by airBaltic to provide its innovative R2 seat for the airline's Airbus A220-300 aircraft. As the world’s largest A220-300 operator, airBaltic's selection of the RECARO seating underlines a commitment to passenger comfort and enhanced travel experience. Delivery is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

The airBaltic fleet will be equipped with RECARO seats in a 148-seat cabin layout. The design will feature a contemporary light grey and white dress cover to reflect airBaltic's clean and sophisticated cabin ethos. The seats will be configured to maximize living space and enhancing passenger comfort.

The R2 seat not only promises an elevated travel experience for passengers but also offers environmental and economic benefits to the airline. The seat's innovative lightweight structure is a testament to the commitment of sustainability at RECARO. The reliability of the R2 also aligns with airBaltic's cost-efficiency goals by reducing the aircraft's overall weight, resulting in lower fuel consumption, and minimizing maintenance costs over the seat’s lifetime.

Comfort features of the selected seat include an enhanced cushion for the seat bottom and backrest, an integrated headrest, and the modern convenience of USB-C power at each seat. These elements are designed to enhance the well-being and connectivity of passengers during their flight.

"Teaming up with airBaltic marks an exciting opportunity for us at RECARO," said Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. "Our R2 will elevate passenger comfort within the airBaltic cabin to new levels, and I am confident this collaboration is the beginning of a long-lasting partnership.”

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “This year, we will celebrate already eight years since airBaltic became the global launch operator of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft type. To elevate the passenger comfort and travel experience even more, we are excited to reveal our plans to collaborate with RECARO Aircraft Seating on our new seat offer, which will benefit the airBaltic passengers travelling within the airline’s wide network in Europe and beyond.”
