New milestone in cooperation with Airbus

Aircraft manufacturer delegates signature rights for technical verification to Recaro Aircraft Seating

Schwaebisch Hall, Germany. Recaro Aircraft Seating has received extended signature rights from Airbus. The transfer of responsibility and rights in the development phase to the aircraft seat supplier is another significant milestone in the successful collaboration between the two companies.

As part of signature delegation, selected Airbus engineering partners who are able to meet the high requirements of the aircraft manufacturer and the European Aviation Safety Agency are now more directly involved in the aircraft development process, and given extended responsibilities on behalf of the Airbus design organization. They are given the privilege of delegating to qualified employees signature rights for technical documents that are required for aircraft development and approval.

“Airbus representatives thoroughly studied processes at Recaro Aircraft Seating in detail – with success: We meet all requirements in order to verify technical certification documents of the Airbus design organization,” says René Dankwerth, Member of the Executive Team at Recaro Aircraft Seating. In 2009, Airbus approved Recaro Aircraft Seating as a development partner in the A350 program for “Airbus Extended Enterprise.” In this context, Airbus transferred the first signature rights to the company in 2012. “This authorization has now been extended to all Airbus aircraft types,” says René Dankwerth. “Recaro Aircraft Seating is the only aircraft seat supplier to date for which these rights have been granted also in regard to the development of electronic hardware and software components.”

Marco Krämer, Director Platform Development, adds: “Until now, technical verification documents had to be inspected by Recaro Aircraft Seating and then checked again by Airbus. Now, our qualified employees can take care of the final release and approval on behalf of Airbus. This reduces coordination efforts and lead times – which is ultimately beneficial to our customers.”

René Dankwerth is convinced that the company is on the right course: “With our Excellence initiative, we have been systematically pursuing our mission of being the best seat supplier from the point of view of our customers since 2007. We have developed a culture of continuous improvement in leadership, processes, and communication across all corporate divisions. Receiving the signature delegation for technical documents shows us once again that our efforts have paid off and that our achievements are being recognized by Airbus.”
