Long-term partnership between airberlin and Recaro Aircraft Seating

Recaro seats for airberlin’s short- and medium-haul aircraft

Schwaebisch Hall, Germany. Recaro Aircraft Seating and airberlin have agreed to expand their partnership. The aircraft seat supplier and the airline have signed a contract to this effect that includes equipping short- and mediumhaul Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 aircraft exclusively with economy class seats from Recaro Aircraft Seating by the end of 2014.

According to the agreement, airberlin will equip the economy class of its new aircraft exclusively with Recaro seats: BL3510 seats are to be installed in Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 aircraft. “We have already had very good experiences with the BL3510 and its predecessors. Passenger satisfaction with these seats has been extremely high. The majority of our current fleet is equipped with this model in economy class”, explains Thomas Ney, Executive Vice President Guest Experience at airberlin. “With Recaro Aircraft Seating, we have a partner at our side who offers an outstanding combination of innovation and comfortable seats”, adds Ney.

“We are pleased to continue our successful cooperation with airberlin – a cooperation which has existed since 1979”, declares Andreas Lindemann, Chief Sales Officer of Recaro Aircraft Seating. “An expansion of the partnership is also being considered in connection with the new Airbus 320 neo and Boeing 737-900 models.”

Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer of Recaro Aircraft Seating, adds: “The quality of the BL3510 seat has been very well demonstrated over the last few years. The seat model’s strongest feature is its ergonomic comfort. Furthermore, its impressive lightweight and space-saving design helps airlines to operate aircraft more efficiently, while reducing their environmental impact.”
