CL3620 and SL3510: Capturing the market
Recaro Aircraft Seating on track with its product strategy

“Our product strategy with its focus on design and comfort is right on track. This was confirmed by the awards last year, as well as by our customer orders,” says Recaro Aircraft Seating CEO Axel Kahsnitz. “These two award winners are our response to market demands. The CL3620 seat for ultra longrange flights up to 20 hours sets new standards in ergonomics and design. And we successfully engineered the SL3510 to be the lightest and most comfortable seat for short-haul flights up to four hours." Recaro Aircraft Seating now supplies a complete range of economy class seats to meet all short- and long-haul requirements.
The airlines have clearly recognized the company's efforts. Recaro Aircraft Seating gained Qatar Airways in 2009 as the first customer for its CL3620 model. The airline has since ordered several thousand seats for their fleet of A330 aircraft. VAustralia and Qantas Airways were also convinced by the seat's outstanding comfort. While V-Australia ordered the CL3620 for its B777 fleet, Qantas Airways is going to install Recaro seats in its A380 and B747 aircraft. The Recaro SL3510 was launched successfully with Air France. Since January 2010, the airline has been gradually refitting their domestic fleet of A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft with economy class seats made by Recaro.
The CL3620 that won a Crystal Cabin Award 2009 in the “Passenger Comfort” category makes comfortable travel in economy class a reality. Thanks to the seat's slim silhouette based on the single-beam concept, passengers can enjoy plenty of legroom – even with a relatively short seat pitch. The ultra-thin backrest offers outstanding comfort. Other features include flexible materials in the headrest and a convenient foot net.
The Recaro SL3510 was honored with a Crystal Cabin Award 2009 in the “Industrial Design/Interior Concept” category. This seat weighs only 9.1 kilograms and scores extra points with ergonomic features including a backrest structure designed for relaxed seating. The ultra-thin backrest also maximizes passenger legroom. Environmental compatibility is another positive aspect. According to information from Air France, the reduced weight of the SL3510 enables the airline to save 1,700 tons of jet fuel each year and lower CO2 emissions by 5,200 tons.
