Sales Engineer I
Overview
Responsible for the analysis and coordination of the technical aspects of RECARO Aircraft Seating Americas LLC offers, including: Offer Evaluation Book (OEB) preparation, seat layout analysis, customer specification analysis, definition of the proposed technical solution, analysis of potential technical issues and presentation to the customer. Also, same responsibilities apply for programs from RECARO Aircraft Seating Germany (RAG) and RECARO Aircraft Seating China (RAC) transfer programs, when applicable. Ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Sales and comfortable interacting with customers from all over the world.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes customer technical specifications received in RFP’s and other communications.
- Collaborates with the engineering department to co-create compliance matrices to customer RFP specifications.
- Creates potential LOPA’s (Aircraft Seat Layouts) for program using CATIA V5 CAD software and professionally identifies issues and/or inefficiencies to the customers
- Identifies technical issues with proposed LOPA and offers preliminary solutions. This includes a working knowledge of the certification (FAA) and installation (Boeing, Airbus) requirements for aircraft seats.
- Designs technical sales campaigns to simply explain the proposed solution to the customer.
- Drafts OEB for internal and external use detailing the technical aspects of the proposed seat based on customer specifications.
- Works with engineering, certification, program management, supply chain, production, and other departments to determine certification and capacity requirements.
- In conjunction with Sales Team, may recommend product or service enhancements to improve offering to customer and to increase sales potential.
- Provides technical support to the sales team at the customer site during sales campaigns.
- Has a working knowledge of competitor products in order to accurately emphasize the benefit of RECARO products.
- Prepares configuration, work scope and other technical documents for submission of proposals.
- Provides RAG with technical information on US sales efforts, thereby linking the US sales department to the German engineering departments.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new product development throughout the company.
- Has knowledge of existing seating products including maintenance issues and Service Bulletins.
- Work effectively and in a professional manner with diverse cultures.
- Occasional domestic and international travel, must keep valid and current passport.
- Communicates with customer directly concerning technical information, and commercial information when applicable.
- Analyzes costs given for Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE), to ensure they are accurate and if not, works with the technical team to justify the proposal.
- Collaborates with Finance department to determine program recurring costs and reviews offer calculations.
- Maintains a diverse customer base of up to 15 customers; stays current with topics within customer allocation and builds rapport by supporting customer visits/meetings, seat shows, RFP’s and OEB’s.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Basic experience with 3D CAD software is required.
