Position Title: Certification Engineer II
Position Location: 2275 Eagle Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76177
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties: Responsible for working with internal program teams, installers, suppliers, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and designees to research and plan certification programs in order to produce mechanically functioning equipment meeting airlines’ and regulatory agencies’ standards and requirements. Analyze the mechanical design and requirements for aircraft seating under lead technical supervision. Perform engineering duties in the plan and design of mechanically functioning aircraft seating in order to verify that this complicated piece of equipment meets airlines’ and regulatory agencies’ standards and requirements. Develop product verification processes to produce equipment meeting internal and external regulatory requirements. Perform product certification tasks under the supervision of lead engineer in developing certification basis and certification plans. Analyze test data to determine whether products have met requirements and standards from the FAA, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and others. Coordinate verification activities with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and installers for successful product certification. Research, evaluate, and maintain mechanical aircraft seating products, equipment, systems or processes to meet regulatory requirements. Confer with engineers or other personnel to evaluate seating product designs and provide technical information in order to perform product verification. Develop, coordinate, or monitor all aspects of product certification, including selection of test methods and operation of aircraft seating designs in order to ensure that products meet internal and external regulatory requirements. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or closely related Engineering field or foreign equivalent.
Experience: 2 years of professional aircraft interior testing and certification experience. Experience must include thorough knowledge of FAA regulations and the following computer skills: AutoCAD, Pro-E, CATIA V5, and MathCad.
Travel: 20% domestic travel required.
