Production Line Lead I

Overview

Provide technical, personnel, and leadership support of the daily activities associated with the Production department


Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality products are assembled in support of customer dock dates
  • Organize and assign work to meet the production schedules while following standard work assigned to the shipset
  • Monitor and communicate the daily production results  and submit the daily efficiency report
  • Conduct daily meetings with the production line to review daily performance goals and challenges
  • Set up ANDON system to manage line progress through the shift and update as needed
  • Ensure the proper provisioning of the production line (tools, hardware, consumables)
  • Effectively communicate and elevate issues impacting the daily performance of the line from Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Logistics to the Production Supervisor
  • Assess the efficiency of each operator and provide training or recommend disciplinary action as necessary to Production Supervisor
  • Provide input for performance evaluations for assemblers and assistants
  • Review and provide daily attendance reports; Audit ITA records to ensure proper time charging
  • Monitor and reduce line scrap cost; Follow MRB and Q-note processes
  • Conduct and assist with corrective actions, root cause analysis and preventative action
  • Cross train on multiple processes to increase knowledge and value to the team
  • Train assemblers in new processes including standard work
  • Investigate line stops, put in emergency measures, and counter measures to cope with line stops
  • Communicate Line damages immediately
  • Communicate regularly with the line inspector to be aware of the quality issues found
  • Communicate quality issues back to the line operator and investigate root cause to ensure it is resolved
  • Participate in the daily production meetings
  • Work with Production Supervisor to build a cross training plan to strengthen the team and invest in assemblers
  • Fill in for assemblers when away from the work area (absenteeism, training, etc.)
  • Interact with internal and external customers professionally
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized workplace; Conduct regular housekeeping audits
  • Support and maintain 5S initiatives

Education/Experience:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ of seat assembly or related manufacturing experience
  • Trainer or leadership experience preferred
  • Qualification to support all line functions as needed
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Ability to independently plan and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to solve problems with little or no guidance
  • Ability to communicate and present in front of peers and upper management
  • Ability to organize teams to effectively accomplish organizational goals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours on short notice and overtime

 

Language Ability:

Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally. Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally.    Ability to read interpret, analyze documents such as regulations, manuals, policies, procedures, databases and presentations.  Ability to write reports and correspondence at a high level.  Ability to speak effectively with employees at all levels in the organization.
